Wearable prop with integrated lights designed for realism
About the Project:
This is a model of the Master Chief helmet from Halo Infinite. The files are from Galactic Armory, and the helmet prints in four main pieces. The visor is a transparent metallic gold sheet found on Amazon. It includes four LEDs controlled by a switch inside of the helmet and a weathered paint job. The paints used are Rustoleum Satin Eden, Behr Matte Black, Rustoleum Metallic Silver, and a simple black hand paint.
Design Process:
Printing all of the pieces took around 40 hours, which was the first step I took. After that, I assembled, sanded and primed the helmet for painting. I started with the satin eden, then the matte black after masking off the proper areas. To achieve the weathered effect, I covered a foam block in the silver paint and dabbed it on the edges. Along with that, I coated the helmet in a watered down black hand paint, brushing it on then quickly drying it off to add grime. Finally, I inserted the LEDs, attached the battery pack with magnets inside of the helmet, and glued the visor in place. The only improvement I would make in the future is to make a vacuum formed visor instead of the gold sheet for a more rigid, detailed visor.
